Louis Vuitton Trash Bag - Has Fashion Finally Lost It?

Okay ... I love Marc Jacobs probably more than all of you put together. But this is nuts. Totally nuts. US$1960 for this new Louis Vuitton bag which, and I'm not sure if you can see this or if it's just my fashion deducing powers, looks suspiciously like a garbage bag.

In fact, exactly like a garbage bag.

Is this just the designer poking fun at us? Is he cackling away in his multimillion dollar apartment with his beautiful boyfriend, drumming his fingertips together and thinking "I wonder if they're such sheep that they'll even wear a garbage bag if I design it?"

'Cause it sure looks that way to me.

You all know that I'm completely obsessed with fashion and I love it taking different forms and getting inspiration from all different areas of like ... but really. If I wanted to carry a green garbage bag around I'd get one from Coles. Not Louis Vuitton. For $2000.

What's the bet it takes off and is the hit bag of the season?

I'll admit, in the other colour it's quite cool. And what I'm about to say may just equate to fashion blasphemy, but the green deserves to go where it got its inspiration - the rubbish.

oh no... i think this is more of a 'comment on society' rather than fashion. just the designers chance to make a statement. although anyone who buys one is a sucker cos your just proving his point!

I think it's a real good statement in a fashionable way. This bag is much nicer than some of other great desginers! Check out www.greentimes.com.au/lifestyle/eco-fashion-here-to-stay.html for more "statement fashion"!

I think you have to be careful of taking the piss out of your loyal followers, MJ.
