Blast from the past: Supermodels do Versace

Ahhh, the 90's. When models were slim but actually had bodies. And back then, I thought their bodies were unattainable, all flat-tummied and firm-thighed. But in comparison to catwalk models of today, they're about three sizes bigger, which is just so sad, isn't it? These girls invented the word super. From left, Nadja Auermann, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour. All beautiful, tawny-skinned, shapely bodied, glossy-haired there's absolutely nothing wrong with them. They beamed health and vitality through the lens and made me want to be them - the absolute definition of the word aspirational. Today's model? I don't know about you, but the thighs on Abbey Lee just scare me. Another cover of Pop magazine (which I first posted about below):

That's not a thigh, that's the width of my arm! It's a swizzle stick. I'm not saying it's not normal because for Abbey, it is indeed normal, but one only needs to look at Gemma Ward and what happened to her body once she removed herself from the modelling world to realise that the way these girls live is not healthy. It's unsustainable. And in my opinion, unattractive to most. If you're naturally thin, more power to you, but most girls when naturally thin still have a rounded though, even if it's tiny, it's still rounded. That's what naturally thin looks like 'cause they're meant to be that skinny. When thighs start looking like a piece of dead wood, that's when you know there are issues.
Which do you think is more attractive?

Bring back the 90s I say!! I actually remember this ad...back then I knew all the supermodels & even kept a scrapbook. Alas, I have little or no interest in the models of today...no where near as intriguing. The other thing that annoys me is that EVERYONE who is a model nowadays is called a 'supermodel' so the title now has no merit!
I really applaud you in stating your opinion in regards to weight and the female form!
Ever noticed what the side angle of these thighs look like when they're sitting - kind of concave inwards make a thigh look bony.. I think photoshop is used to make the thigh more "rounded" which is rather ironic.
90s bodies are better.
Abbey looks scarily like a child. The 90s models look HOT! If I was a man I know which I would find more attractive.
"During Paris Fashion Week, Abbey Lee fainted at the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2009 Runway. She fainted just as she was about to exit the runway. The cause of the fainting spell was thought to be the combination of the tight corset she wore and her high heels." Low blood pressure = low body fat..
ewww how gross is that thigh!! even her shoulder looks wrong. but check out nadja's ass.. models like abbey are becoming a little ridiculous.
wow those 90s models are gorgeous! i'm too young to remember them, i wish they still made them like that!
agree with linda, very childlike in that photo
todays models are billboards for unhealthy bodies. definitely would rather the 90's models over todays ones.
