By far the most sophisticated way to wear a midriff top that I have seen so far, and the most wearable. Kate Beckinsdale teams a raw-edged midriff (is it leather? Could be, that's why it sits so beautifully) top in a neutral, almost nothing colour with a high-waisted tube skirt that has a coral waistband. What a great way to dip your toe into a trend that really seems as though it's for a much younger woman. Just goes to show, if you wear it your way, you can wear it.

Mila Kunis keeps things casual in a cut-off tee with blue denims. The key here is that it's an off-duty look that nods to two trends (spots and midriff) while not looking like she's trying too hard. Good move.

And the skimpiest version of the trend you can possibly hope to see. Miley teams her sheer midriff with tiny, printed shorts. Perfect if you're an 18-year-old pop star, not so good if you're a stay-at-home mum running out for some milk. Take note and choose appropriately.
