Australia and Oprah are having a love affair. It's evident in both their eyes. Oprah is having the time of her life and we are putting it on spectacularly. Even the weather which has been so crappy of late is heaping on a performance, especially for her. I love that she was photographed with Aboriginal children and that it would have gone global. How many celebs do you see visting Oz and holding native children at Uluru? None. But Oprah of course breaks boundaries in her usual easy manner.
She's also dressing so well for the occasion. Take this beautifully coloured kaftan (is it Camilla? Sure looks like it. Wouldn't that be the most amazing thing?) which lifts and brightens everything around her as she teams it with simple white pants and pair of shiny flats. You just want to hug her, and you know, you just know that Oprah would hug you back and all would be right with the world, just for a moment.
I'm not even a massive Oprah fan, and look how I'm gushing! She just has that ... something. You know she's got good intentions. There's no malice there, she wants to do good in this world and leave her mark and the fact that she's the most successful entertainer in the world while doing that is a marvellous reflection on our society and what we really want. Perhaps it's time other entertainers took notice of this generous and philanthropic approach and how well it works with the public, and employ some Oprah-esque tactics.
