She wears a dress pretty well too. And it's not just about the long, lean, tennis-honed body, though that helps. This powder blue J Mendel gown is a winner in many ways.
The muted colour which leaves it on the good side of subtle, for example. If this dress was a bright yellow or, God forbid, a metallic bronze or silver, it would have been too showy. Understated blue however, is just right.
The soft way it drapes and falls to gently reveal the body shape underneath. Anything more body hugging and a dress which shows this much skin can suddenly be trashy.
But the way it's left to fall open on its own is quite lovely.
Well played, Maria Sharapova, well played. (Pun not intentional. Kind of. Okay maybe it is.)
