Perfect timing. as usual, and I'd expect nothing less from the masters of publishing, Vanity Fair. Lindsay looks like an innocent star of old Hollywood, the look on her face tells us she thinks she's been wronged but still has some fight left in her, while the fact that they've shot her with an American flag cements her place as an American icon. She looks like Grace Kelly, one of America's holier-than-thou, most favourite of all favourite childre, rather than the villified, drug taking, mess of an alcoholic she was portrayed to be. Hmm.
Do you believe it? I'm not sure. Some say Lindsay's in denial during the interview, where she says she wasn't addicted to prescription drugs. I think it depends on when the interview was done (Before or after rehab? Would have had to have been before, because of publishing deadlines) and how she saw herself at that particular time.
“If I were the alcoholic everyone says I am, then putting a [SCRAM] bracelet on would have ended me up in detox, in the emergency room, because I would have had to come down from all the things that people say I’m taking and my father says I’m taking—so that says something, because I was fine. I think everyone has their own addictions and hopefully learns how to get past them. I think my biggest focus for myself is learning how to continue to get through the trauma that my father has caused in my life.”
Is it a blame game? I know having a rotten father like Michael Lohan can't be helpful, but taking some of the blame herself surely is a big step forward in the healing process, and it doesn't look like she's done that yet.
