Lady Gaga in all black to visit Julian Assange
Wednesday, October 10, 2012 AT 12:03 PM

I can't tell you how impressed I am that Lady Gaga went to see Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, spending a whole five hours with him. Go Gaga. My respect for you has just increased tenfold.

Better still, she wore THIS.

I mean, if it's not the best "incognito" outfit I've ever seen, then I don't know what is. Straight out of a storybook, it's exactly what a woman would have worn to go and see an imprisoned pioneer, isn't it? She really thought this through. No bright or garish outfit for her, this was a serious mission and she dressed for it! You've got to admire a woman who knows exactly what to do for such a visit. Well done Gaga.

I wonder what they talked about?

Lisa, I don't know where to start. You sound like you're saying this type of sexually preditory behaviour is inate or natural and thus is excusable as in; "boys will be boys". You sound just like Sheik Hilali when he said: "If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?" This kind of 'blame the victim' mentality is unconscionable and it smarts of some kind of Stockholm Syndrome gone wild. Men *are* responsible and should be held accountable for their actions. They have control over their actions and should exercise it or face the consequences. The charges are not a beat-up; that's what the patriarchal-dominant media would have you believe. Ask youself this? In a "He said, she said" trial by media situation, why is it ALWAYS women who lose out? They cant be lying, concocting, extorting, cheating 100% of the time.

The rape allegations sound extremely similar to scenarios that are played out in millions of households around the world every friday night. What woman alive has not been coerced, bullied or manipulated into sex at one time or another in her lifetime? Sad, but true. He is no different from any other man on the planet. Not all men act like this all the time, but I feel confident saying almost all men have acted like this at least once or twice in their lifetimes. Tis a reality of sexual life experience, it seems. Even dolphins bully female dolphins into sex. Even chickens do. Should Assange be made into the martyr that forces men the world over to change their ways? I'm not sure that's appropriate, it's obvious the rape charges are concocted. How many sexual bullies do you know (and certainly, you know a few) that are holed up in an embassy to avoid extradition?

Actually, Nedahl, everyone's _opinion_ of the allegations is that they're BS but that's because the media is steered by men. And I have been following the story, thank you very much. A man is invited back to a woman's place with the promise of sex. The woman insists she will not have sex with him unless he wears a condom. The man refuses and and after much back and forth, she "consents" anyway (more like she's co-erced). She then expresses regret for that decision and vocalises her point of view after the fact. She later wakes to Assange's unsheathed penis invading her body. 1. Again, how can a sleeping woman consent to sex? She can't. I don't care or not whether consent is implied based on what happened earlier in the evening; she did not give her consent, ergo, he raped her. 2. He's expressesly gone against her wishes by fucking her without a condom - why do people just think that this is a perfectly acceptable thing to do? Yeah, he's so worthy of our admiration.

I think he's groundbreaking and if you've researched what happened, the rape allegations are BS. This outfit is def Wicked Witch of the West but that's why I love it! She's in character. It's YSL, or Saint Laurent as it's now known, fresh off the runway.

What about the rape allegations? I don't understand why this man is still everyone's hero when he/his legal team is pushing some very dubious counter-claims to what clearly should result in a conviction. I mean, how does a sleeping woman give consent FFS? Yeah, he's a rapist in my books and worthy of nobody's respect.

Maybe they talked about what a narcissistic gutless wonder he is? And she looks like the wicked witch of the East. WTF? ;-)

Her outfit has all the hallmarks of a teenager playing dress ups. Pretentious, self-regarding and ultimately just a little bit silly. 'Serious mission' indeed lol. As a mother, I feel an urge to stifle a loving smile.
