She is the QUEEN of the polished casual look. Never does she look scruffy or like she "just threw this on." Everything is meticulously planned and well thought out. Which makes it better for us, easier to copy.
1. The skinny jean which finishes at the ankle.
Not too long so it scrunches up around your ankle, but hemmed so that it ends neatly. This is key. The scrunch immediately gives off a scruffy vibe, which is what we're trying to avoid here if going for the Miranda polished finish.
2. The blazer.
Throw a blazer over anything - shorts, skirts, dresses and especially jeans, and it instantly sharpens your look. You could have a tie-dye hippie dress on underneath and the blazer would polish it up. It is the absolute key to her look.
3. The bag.
Miranda likes a big bag, probably because she has so much baby stuff to lug around (in this case it's her carry-on as she just stepped off a plane), but see how there is nothing poking out the top and the bag still retains its shape? That is the secret. Once your bag overflows or there is a water bottle shape poking out inside of it, well, that says scruffy. Polished means good shape.
4. The shoes.
Rarely does she wear an open flat sandal. With Miranda, it's either heels or ballet flats. She eschews thongs all together! This is not going to work for everyone especially as we enter our summer, but perhaps it's time to think about investing in a light coloured ballet flat for days when you want to look a tad more polished than normal. Personally, I think a pair of open flat, maybe in a patent leather, will also look just as polished.
