Just another must-have to add to your list. Look at the quilted leather! It's almost like a classic Chanel bag. And the gold keyboard? Bet you can't wait to get your fingers tapping on that.
Since when did the latest technology gadget hold prime position on our most-wanted list? Ever since phone and computer companies started making sleek, leather-bound objects like this one. Go anywhere with an old phone these days and you're an outcast. In fact, it doesn't even need to be old, it just needs to be not an iphone or Blackberry and people think you're completely obselete, untechy, and not up to date in the slightest with your gadgets (I should know, my old Nokia is the only phone I haven't lost in the last year, so therefore the only one I can use, and I get taken down every time I use it in public).
Pull out an Apple Mac at a cafe and you're the coolest kid in town, but is yours the MacBook Pro or just the MacBook? There's a difference you know, on the cool hierarchy of gadgets. Same with cameras. Your old snapshot one is fine, but have you seen the latest digis which take professional shots and are only a smidge bigger?
Why the judgements? And why the race to make the "next big thing" in technology a fashion item?
Companies know they have to appeal to women, and the fastest way to do that is to create a "hot ticket" item. Something that everyone wants to be seen with. Traditionally, shoes and bags have held top spot, but are they being nudged aside by products that can download a movie in your pocket faster it would take to buy a pair of shoes - on said gadget, while travelling on the bus?
The thing about gadgets is that as soon as you buy the latest one, there's a better one on the shelf in, oh about two weeks, so you're kind of old and over before you've even got your head around it - and they're not cheap. At least I know when I buy an expensive pair of shoes, I'm going to wear them season after season, and they might even look better with age.
So while I want this laptop 'cause god it looks good, I'm resisting the temptation to buy into the fashion gadget. You?
