I'm divided on this look. I think the dress is pretty, but the blazer is sitting right on the edge, teetering on lovely but just about to tip over into wrongtown ... there's such a fine line with blazers. This is the third post in the last ten where I've written about them. What's going on and where do we draw the line?
First of all, blazers are everywhere as the new jacket du jour, so celebs have taken to whacking them on an outfit willy nilly, without much thought as to the proportions or whether they suit the dress.
The best way to wear a blazer is with a shorter dress, or shorts. You'll hands down be a winner if you pair these two items together. Anything else and you're entering into tricky territory with varying lengths and you run the risk of a blazer fail.
Here's a few basic rules to go by.
Short blazers only work with pants or shorts.
Long blazers work with pants, shorts, tights.
Long blazers work with long dresses, above-the-knee dresses and mini dresses.
Long blazers look okay, but you won't win any style awards with knee-length (like Jessica Biel).
If you want to play it safe, stick to minis, jeans and shorts.
That's it, I've had enough of writing about them. On a different note, do you like Jess' shoes? Again, I think too heavy with the dress but they'd look hot with a pair of shorts or a leather pencil skirt.
