It's a very sad day in fashion today

It took me a while to start this because I can't quite believe it but I know you'll have already heard ... about Alexander McQueen committing suicide.

I'm shocked, devastated and horrified that such a talented man would think suicide was the only option. He was depressed after his mother died last week and left some disturbing messages on Twitter. But before we go into that, let's remember his work as a brilliant, brilliant fashion designer.

As reported by most news.com, he released his feelings on Twitter:

"Sunday evening been a f***ing awful week but my friends have been great but now i have to some how pull myself together."

Days earlier he had written: "I'm letting my followers know the my mother passed away yesterday if it she had not me nor would you RIPmumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx."

"But life must go on."

Word spread quickly around the globe last night especially as everyone is gathered in New York for Fashion Week which began yesterday.

"McQueen was daring, original, exciting," said John Galliano, "He was a fashion revolutionary."

Karl Lagerfeld told AFP: “There was always some attraction to death, his designs were sometimes dehumanized," Lagerfeld said, "I found his work very interesting, never banal."

And of course, Twitter was abuzz.

Stylist Rachel Zoe wrote “I cant describe the tragic loss of such a brilliant man and designer Alexander McQueen..R.I.P xoRZ,”on her Twitter page.

“I just found out Alexander McQueen died!!! I'm in shock! So sad! I'm wearing one of his dresses now! He was such a talented designer.” - Kim Kardashian

Kate Moss released a statement, she was extremely close to McQueen, having been a bridesmaid at his wedding. "Kate is shocked and devastated at the tragic loss of her dear friend Lee McQueen. Her thoughts are with his family at this sad time."

"Today the fashion industry has lost a true great. An icon of all time. He made all he touched beautiful and will be desperately missed," said Victoria Beckham.

RIP Lee McQueen

im still in a lot of shock :(
more support and attention needs to be given to those who suffer from depression!
hopefully this tragedy might just do that.
